Merritt Island Communities
The unincorporated "town" of Merritt Island is located on Florida's largest island, which serves as the home of NASA's Kennedy Space Center. Although the space shuttles are no longer being launched, NASA is still a major attraction for locals and tourists. The population of Merritt Island is just over 35,000. Although the city area of Merritt Island is around 47 square miles, only 17 square miles of it is actual land.
